Google Glass is a lot of things, but subtle is not one of them. The Glass price isn't subtle, the look isn't subtle and using it in public isn't subtle. The only thing Google plays close to the chest about this product is an actual release date (unfortunately for consumers). Though, according to recent patents by Google, that may be about to change. The look, that is, not the whole release date thing - with Android Wear on the scene we're not even sure Google Glass will have a release date any time soon.
Fresh out the US Patent Office comes Google's plans to make Glass more of a device that will blend in with everyday eye-wear. Judging by the photo found via Glass Almanac, the Glass prism used to serve up notifications could be moved to inside a standard pair of frames. Other key components of Google Glass include the touchpad found on the side and the camera for taking photos and recording video. But we're sure, given the right frames, the Glass creators can easily shove those parts somewhere in a standard pair of glasses.

Google has taken steps in the past to get Glass less Cyborg-looking and more like something we humans wear anyway. The prescription lens version of Google Glass is much more natural than the original frame on its own. But the search company can still take steps to making Glass less obtrusive. We have a feeling the reason Google is pushing Android Wear and smartwatches much more nowadays than Google Glass is for this very reason.
Smartwatches may not be better at serving up notifications to you outside of your phone, but users of the wrist wearable are making much less of a statement while wearing their devices. You can't even go to some movie theaters wearing Glass. Meanwhile on your wrist, a smartwatch can be worn without anyone need knowing. This alone may make it easier to MARKET

Google's latest Glass patent could be the best thing happening to their wearable if they ever want it to take off in the mainstream. Though whether or not Glass takes off or smartwatches beat them to the punch is something know one currently knows. We'll just have to wait and see.
