Sting is in WWE. Those are three words that the majority of pro wrestling fans thought they would never hear used in the same sentence, yet that is the reality of the situation now. The former NWA and WCW champion is considered by many to be an icon in the industry and he is the last true legend that never worked for Vince McMahon.
Or, at least he was the last true legend; the fact is that the man called Sting is on the McMahon family’s payroll and he is more than excited to be there. However, he has not been used in any official capacity on TV yet. This seems like a crazy scenario, one in which a great number of the WWE faithful thought was not even remotely possible.
Sting is on the roster for the first time in his illustrious career and that is something that fans have wanted to see since the moment he first debuted in Jim Crockett Promotions. The crowd saw he had something special then, they knew that he had the entertainment value to compete in a WWE ring. They knew that he could be a megastar if only he would make the jump to the big show.
Now he has and they have not used him yet. How is that possible? Why is that possible? The answer may not be readily obvious but it could very well be that the company is saving him for something big at some point down the road. To imagine that he was brought in only to promote WWE 2K15 and then put back in the shadows is an even crazier scenario.
Perhaps the time is coming in which he will step from the shadows into the spotlight of WWE. That moment should come soon and it should come before 2014 ends; here are 10 great reasons why.
10. Promote The WWE 2K15 Game

This is of course the primary reason it seems that WWE brought Sting in. When the announcement was first made that he would be included in the new game, fans were drooling at the prospect of it. After all, Sting was one of those guys that had always been relegated to the Create-a-Wrestler feature and the game makers had never been shy about including his face paint as a selection.
When it was announced that Sting was actually coming in to help promote the game, fans became more than a little unhinged. Finally Sting was signing his name on a WWE contract and the first part of his deal would be to push the game that officially featured his likeness for the first time.
However, fans have yet to see that promotion take place on WWE’s main programming. Yes, they have seen tidbits here and there so they know it’s happening. To see him in a WWE ring or perhaps backstage being interviewed would be a moment that would surely blow the roof of the building despite what city they’re running that night.
WWE 2K15 will always be remembered as the game that first saw Sting in the company. It’s time that he appeared on either Raw or SmackDown to make it official.
9. The Clock Is Ticking On His Ring Career

“You’ve still got it!” That is a chant that has been heard before in WWE, perhaps most notably with guys like Ricky Steamboat and Goldust. There is just something about seeing an old favorite, a longtime veteran, come back to the ring and completely tear it up. Defying age and ignoring Father Time, Sting has received those chants as well.
However, he heard those chants from TNA fans back in 2006; when he was 47. Sting is now 55 and the fact is that Father Time will not be denied for very much longer. He looks to be in good shape, he had some quality matches in TNA and he likely has more left in him for WWE.
Those matches need to happen soon. Much of the WWE crowd have probably never seen him work before, they only know him from the Network and DVD collections. They deserve to see him on WWE programming and that means that Sting will eventually have to get started.
That moment needs to happen before 2014 ends, as it finally gets Sting on TV and perhaps even sets up something else in the near future. He has to get going eventually.
2. To Face Bray Wyatt

Sting’s dream opponent is a man that perhaps many fans did not initially think of. Indeed, Bray Wyatt is such a relatively new prospect in terms of main event stars, that fans may feel he’s much too obscure of a choice to face Sting in a WWE ring.
However, the more that fans have debated this one, the more logical it is. Sting versus Bray would be a different kind of match, a rivalry that would be hugely beneficial for Wyatt while also allowing Sting the opportunity to shine as well. Each of their gimmicks lends itself to the dark aspects of a man’s soul and that is perhaps the best description of each one.
Much like Cactus Jack did back in WCW, Bray would challenge Sting’s resolve, taking him to task on every side of his character. The Eater of Worlds would undoubtedly not be intimidated by Sting, as he took on Kane without batting an eye. That feud would perhaps pale in comparison to this one, as it could very well establish Bray as a true main event Superstar.
Wyatt deserves that spotlight and considering the desperate need for top players in WWE, it could be that his star will rise very soon. Sting could be a big part in making that happen.
